In a newly developing collaboration, Miracle Mile will team with the El Segundo police department in responding to the needs of residents. All officers will be briefed on the referral process and begin making referrals while on duty beginning next month. It was a memorable afternoon at the beautiful home of family therapist, Nancy Steiny, located in Hancock Park. Over 50 members of LA's postmodern therapy community were in attendance. We kicked things off with a social hour, where old and new friends met. Then, co-directors, David and Laurie, shared stories about co-authoring their recent book, Narrative Therapy in Wonderland: Connecting with Children's Imaginative Know-How, with David Epston. David Epston, our featured speaker, took us on a journey through time, tracing the inspiration for his ideas to Narrative's rich past, fortuitous discoveries in his own practice, and the legacy of his parents. The afternoon ended with a question and answer session and a special gift presentation of the artwork that inspired Narrative Therapy in Wonderland's cover.
Thank you to all those who attended! Special thanks to LA's award-winning cheesemonger and owner of Vagabond Cheese, Alex Ourieff, for curating a delicious selection of cheeses. |
